The Tuaropaki geothermal power station produces 113MW of electricity which is delivered via a 22km connection line to the National Grid, at the Transpower Whakamaru substation.
In 2018 Tuaropaki Trust and Obayashi Corporation of Japan entered into a joint venture, establishing Halcyon Power Ltd, to pilot the production of hydrogen using geothermal energy.
