What is Tūaropaki Trust?
Tūaropaki Trust is a Māori land organisation that was established in the 1950s. It operates in a diverse range of sectors including geothermal power generation, pastoral farming, dairy processing, and horticulture, among others.
The Trust focuses on sustainability and innovation, aiming to act as a beacon of hope and prosperity for its people. It provides a variety of services to its Owners, such as grants, internships, and scholarships, and manages programs related to apprenticeships and leadership training.
How do I become an Owner?
To become an Owner of the Tūaropaki Trust, individuals must inherit shares from an existing shareholder. These shares are typically passed down through family lines, and any changes to share ownership must be processed and approved by the Māori Land Court. This process helps ensure that the ownership remains within the family and community, preserving the legacy and intentions of the original owners. For more detailed information and specific procedures, contact Owner Services.
What are the benefits of being a registered owner?
Being a registered Owner pays dividends, literally. As a beneficiary of Tūaropaki Trust, you can enjoy access to educational and employment opportunities, and financial support, as well as dividends, which are paid annually to shareholders in early December.
You can have a say in key matters by voting at the Trust’s annual general meeting each year. You can also participate in the election of Trustees who make significant resolutions that affect the governance and strategic direction of the Trust.
