Tūaropaki Trust is an Ahu Whenua Trust under the auspices of Te Ture Whenua Māori. There are more than 2,700 Owners, a mix of individuals, Whānau Trusts and Kaitiaki Trusts, all descended from the original Owners.

The Trust is a kaitiaki for ancestral taonga and manages complex business interests in the food and energy sectors, with assets valued at approximately $1 billion.

Te tūranga | The role

We are looking for reliable and hard-working Casual Docking Assistants based in the Taupō–Mōkai area to support our Station team during the upcoming docking season.

These are drive-in positions, so applicants must have reliable transport and be able to travel to and from our Station at Mōkai each day. Work will be available on an on-call, day-by-day basis from approximately 23 October to 20 November 2026.

Hours and days of work will depend on weather, livestock requirements and operational needs, so flexibility is essential. You will work alongside the Station team to help ensure docking is completed safely, efficiently and with a strong focus on animal welfare.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with docking and general livestock-handling activities.
• Support the safe movement and management of stock.
• Follow animal welfare requirements and instructions from the Station team.
• Actively contribute to health and safety requirements.
• Assist with general Station duties where required.
• Work collaboratively and contribute positively to the wider team.

You will bring:

• Previous farming, docking or livestock-handling experience.
• Confidence working safely around sheep and other livestock.
• A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
• Good physical fitness and the ability to complete physically demanding work.
• Reliability and the ability to be available at short notice.
• Reliable transport and the ability to travel to Mōkai each day.
• A willingness to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
• A practical approach and commitment to animal welfare and safe work practices.
